Formal education requirement is minimum High School Diploma. Preferred skills include some post-secondary education in the areas of science and mathematics, previous laboratory experience following SOPs.
Previous experience in testing is an asset but not mandatory; % filler by Specific Gravity; % Filler by Extraction, Softening Point, Viscosity, Flash Point, Sieving, Penetration Test, Tear Test; instruction will be provided for testing method gaps. Successful candidate must pass proficiency evaluations for individual lab tests-execution and reporting.
Must pass a Color IQ test.
The successful candidate will possess good character, strong work ethic, demonstrate organized work habits (paperwork, equipment and work area), high attention to detail, be able to multitask, be supportive of colleagues as necessary and work effectively both independently and as cooperatively part of a team.
Fluency in the English language (comprehension, speaking and writing), fluency in oral French language, competency in mathematics (mental math to be assessed by a math quiz), good general knowledge is required (an aptitude test will be administered) experience in data entry into QC3000 and have good clerical skills.
This position is largely dedicated to the assessment and testing of raw materials, material in process and asphalt roofing shingles. Routine tasks include performing required testing and writing basic laboratory reports, analyze data and work with production team to make process corrections. Other projects and assignments related to research and quality assurance may be assigned.
Basic computer skills required for report writing and spreadsheet management are needed (MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook). A proven safe work record accompanied by a strong commitment to safe and clean work habits is essential.
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds on a routine basis.
Must be able to navigate stairs as needed.
Must be able to walk and/or stand 50% of the shift
7:00am to 3:30pm - Wednesday to Sunday if shingle production is on 4 shifts.
7:00am to 3:30pm - Monday to Friday if shingle production is on 3 shifts.
Overtime may be required based upon business demands.
