A new Mental Health and Addictions Centre is inaugurated in Clarence-Rockland
This initiative was presented by the Hawkesbury & District General Hospital (HGH) during their press conference which was held Tuesday, May 13th at the RiverRock Inn in Rockland. Furthermore, it was also announced that 300 000 $ have been dedicated to these programs in Prescott-Russell.
According to Dr. Suzanne Fillion, Director of Community Mental Health and Addictions at HGH, one in fivre people in Canada suffers from mental health related problems.
Statistics in mental health and addictions in Prescott-Russell and Eastern counties are alarming - the suicide rate is 30 % higher in Eastern counties than the Ontario average, added Michel Laferrière, President of the HGH Foundation. And there are twice as many smokers here than in Ottawa.
HGH and its Foundation are focusing on the delivery of mental health and addiction services in Prescott-Russell by injecting an amount of 300,000 $ into the overall budget in order to better meet this critical need in our community, concluded Laferrière.
The new Mental Health and Addictions Centre in Clarence-Rockland is located at 1905 Laurier Street, Rockland, 613.446.6776. Two other centres are also present in the region : Hawkesbury, 444 McGill Street, 613.632.0139 and Casselman, 710 Main, 613.764.5464.
