A new employment support program for prescott-russell youth
Hawkesbury, October 8th, 2015 – The Employment Services Centre (CSEPR) is proud to announce that a new youth program has been added to the programs and services it already offers its clientele. Recently announced by the Government of Ontario, the “Youth Job Connection Program” aims at helping young people aged from 15 to 29 years old and CSEPR received the mandate to ensure the success of this program for its region.
“The arrival of this program is quite logical,” said André Roy, Executive Director for the Employment Services Center. “Indeed, the economic environment poses great challenges for Ontario's youth, including that of Prescott-Russell. This new program will support our youth by providing them with the professional services of our employment counselors, but also through participation in paid workshops and preparatory activities given by selected partners. These workshops and activities will cover various topics, obviously including job preparation techniques, but will also include subjects like the development of personal management skills - such as preparing a budget for example - and the development of job-related skills including how to maintain a new job," added Mr. Roy. "Along with theoretical training, practical training will be included as well. Thus, each young participant will be matched with an employer for paid on-the-job training. Both participant and employer in this program will be entitled to receive financial support. The arrival of this new program follows the withdrawal of the Youth Employment Fund which ended last March, and presents many similarities with the "Top Service" program set-up by the Centre in 2013 which was a great success. The Center has already developed an excellent expertise with this type of program, and it’s with enthusiasm that we will greet this specific clientele,” to conclude Mr. Roy.
The Employment Services Centre invites all job seekers from Prescott-Russell to come and meet with them to determine which program or services better meets their needs and to get support from our qualified personnel in employment services. Employers are also invited to contact our Job Developers to take advantage of the different programs and services available to companies, including the new Youth Job Connection program. All programs and services offered by the Centre are free of charge to the Prescott-Russell population.
Employment Services Centre (CSEPR) is a not-for-profit corporation with 3 offices serving the vast region of Prescott-Russell. Sole organisation dispensing all employment services for the region, it is funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities for the Employment Ontario program, as well as the Ministry of Community and Social Services for the Ontario Disability Support Program, and gets funding for the Ontario Works program from the United Counties of Prescott-Russell as well. The Centre aims to accompany and support all types of clienteles in search of work or reintegrating the workforce, as well as supporting regional employers with their staffing needs. The Centre offers a complete line of tools and resources to its different clienteles, including several subsidized programs, and through its vocation, contributes in an important way to the region’s economic development.
