900 visitors at the 6th edition of the csepr job fair

Hawkesbury, April 3, 2017 – The Employment Services Centre (CSEPR) confirms today its satisfaction towards the success of the 6th edition of the CSEPR Job Fair. A sincere thank you is conveyed to the 900 visitors who met with the 68 employers-exhibitors present, as well as to our partners and the Centre’s personnel for their contribution. The event was held on March 18 at École secondaire catholique régionale de Hawkesbury (ÉSCRH) where 455 visitors attended, while the second event was held on March 25 at the River Rock Inn and 445 visitors were greeted. A total of 1176 positions were made available to job seekers by employers present during these two days.

“It’s certainly very pleasant to witness the continued interest of the CSEPR Job Fair by job seekers and employers of our region,” said André Roy, Executive Manager for the Employment Services Centre. “Each year, the Centre’s professional team works hard to prepare the event, along with adding new components to offer our clients. As an example, this year, we added preparation workshops for job seekers who planned on attending the job fair. Comments received by some participants were very positive, and indicated that they hadn’t realized the importance of the work that should be done before, during and after the fair to maximize their results. Again this year, several job seekers found work at the fair, and we are convinced that many more will find employment in the weeks to come,” added Mr. Roy. “It’s indeed a great way to fulfill the Centre’s mandate which is to pair local employers with job seekers in our region,” concluded Mr. Roy.

In addition to the free preparation workshops made available to job seekers, the Centre again this year offered employers-exhibitors a conference the morning of the fair. This year, the theme was “Employee training and Health and Safety in the workplace”. The presentation aimed at reminding employers of the importance of training their staff towards occupational health and safety, as well as related legal obligations. Employers confirmed once again their appreciation for this type of conference.

Again this year, results and comments received at the Job Fair will be analyzed by the organizing committee and necessary adjustments will be made if necessary.
