Matching employees with jobs at local job fairs;

several people were hired on the spot according to organizers

Hawkesbury - A total of nearly 750 visitors came to meet with the 68 employers participating in the seventh edition of the Job Fairs held in Hawkesbury and Rockland.

The Job Fairs were held on March 17 and 24 and were orgainzed by the Employment Services Centre (CSEPR) of Hawkebury.

"The overall number of visitors at the event is certainly a reflection of the trend in our current market. However, with more than 1150 positions available, we had hoped to alleviate this trend," said André Roy, Executive Director for the Employment Services Centre.

"We hear it in the news. Labour is scarce in large centres, and Prescott-Russell is no exception. In a certain way, these results are a confirmation of what we have seen for the last year or so," added Mr. Roy. "However, we are proud of the results of the fair since both job seekers and employers present were very satisfied with their participation. Employers mentioned having found candidates for very specific positions, which denotes the high quality of visitors to the fair. And, again this year, several job seekers were hired on the spot, and we are confident that many others will be in the coming weeks," added Mr. Roy. "We want to conclude by sincerely thanking all visitors that came to meet with us at the fair, but also participating employers, volounteers and our community partners for the 7th edition of the Job Fair."
